Surprised by how much of the setup had to be redone later
I had assumed most of the setup process for the training and onboarding would be a one-time effort, but it turned out that a large portion had to be revisited periodically. Initially, there was a clear path laid out with step-by-step instructions, which made the beginning straightforward enough. However, as I progressed, I noticed that the workflows needed ongoing adjustments to align with updates in the software and evolving remote work requirements. This meant that some of the effort I put into early setup wasn't as permanent as expected, and I had to allocate time repeatedly to fine-tune the settings and integration. On the positive side, the initial training modules were sufficient to get me started without confusion. Still, the surprise was in how dynamic the process remained beyond the starting phase. It wasn't clear in advance that constant involvement was necessary, and that made scheduling difficult because I had to keep lining up time for the recurring updates and new training content. Overall, the one-off steps were fine, but the level of ongoing maintenance surprised me enough that I wouldn't call the onboarding quick or set-it-and-forget-it.
